Description

After Newton Fielding (1799-1856). This evocative etching with aquatint and hand-colouring illustrates two birds in combat. Entitled 'Recovery', this is the fifth in a series of six illustrations depicting cockfighting. Presented in a Hogarth frame. Unsigned. On paper.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age, including some discolouration. There is some light dirtying to the paper. There are losses along the edges of the frame, as well as some scuffs and abrasions.
