Clothing and shoes dry on wooden racks by a green tiled stove in this intimate interior scene. Initialled to the lower left. Inscribed with the date and artist's name to the reverse. Well presented in a rustic gold painted frame. On canvas laid to board.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age, including some discolouration and surface dirt. Marks and scuffs to the frame.

Artist Biography
Kunz Meyer-Waldeck was born in Mittau (today Jelgava), Latvia. He spent much of his childhood in Russia, where his father worked as a professor at the University of St. Petersburg and as a newspaper editor. He also attended high school in Germany, before studying at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts. After graduating, Meyer-Waldeck began working as a freelance painter. He exhibited widely in Germany's major art halls and, in 1894, was awarded a medal at the Munich Salon. From 1908 to 1910, he lived in Dallas, Texas, where he was director of an art school. Later, he was appointed professor in Germany. Today, his works can be found in private and public collections, including the Berlin Museum and the Bremen Museum.
