Description
Here, Schofield creates a simple and bleak landscape with excellent effect.
The watercolour is signed along the bottom towards the right of the centre.
The piece is well presented in a wooden gilt effect frame with moulding detail and mountboard.

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and light foxing. The frame is in good condition, with some minor marks and wear.

Artist Biography
Bradford born painter of landscapes, seascapes and flower pieces whose father was a Cotton Warp Dresser. Schofield managed a photographic business in Bradford and his paintings usually depict scenes in the Yorkshire Dales and on the Yorkshire coast. He also had a passion for painting windmills, however, it is not certain whether the artist ever visited Holland. He exhibited prolifically with the Yorkshire Union of Artists and his work can be seen at the Cartwright Hall Museum in Bradford as well as Huddersfield Art Gallery and the Hepworth Wakefield. He also showed in London at the RA and at the RBSA, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool and MAFA. A Memorial Exhibition was held at Bradford Art Gallery in the year of his death. His surname is sometimes misspelt as Scholfield.
