Kershaw Schofield (1875-1941) was a Bradford born painter of landscapes, seascapes and flower subjects in watercolour. His work is characterised by its restrained colour and use of low horizons in the compositions. He drew much of his inspiration from scenes around the Stoney Ridge and Cottingley countryside near his home at Chellow Grange, and was a friend to Herbert Royle, who painted in a similar style.
Kershaw’s paintings can be seen at Cartwright Hall, Bradford, Huddersfield Art Gallery, and the Hepworth Wakefield. He also exhibited at the Royal Academy for over 40 years, as well as at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool and Manchester Academy of Fine Arts.| SKU | rg003 |
