DescriptionA charming watercolour painting by the British artist Kenneth Brookes. The scene depicts a harbour view at low tide with boats and a figure in a blue shirt carrying a bucket. Signed to the lower left-hand corner. Presented in a washline card mount and in an off-white wooden frame. On watercolour paper.
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. Some marks and trapped dirt to the mount. Small marks and scuffs to the frame.

Kenneth Brookes (1897-1974) was a painter and commercial artist, born in Eccles near Manchester. Brookes studied at Watford School of Art and Harrow School of Art, 1913–16 and was a member of the London Sketch Club, of which he was president in the early 1950's. He exhibited at the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, Academy of Arts, Royal Society of British Artists and the Arlington Gallery. He died in Harrow, Middlesex.
