Karoly Krusnyak (1889-1960) - Framed 1925 Oil Lady in the Dutch White Cap

Description

A wonderful head and shoulders portrait of a young woman wearing a traditional Dutch white cap, grasping a closed book in the lower right. Krusnyak's loose, confident brushwork and tonal palette are characteristic of the period, demonstrating skilful handling of the oil medium. The painting is beautifully presented in a gilt-effect frame with aged patina. Signed and dated lower right. On board.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some light discolouration to the varnish layer and a small surface scratch to the upper left hand corner. The frame shows signs of light wear in keeping with its patina. The overall condition of the artwork is very good.
