Karel Soucek (1915-1982) - Signed 1965 Monotype Female Nude Mirror Study
Description
Karel Souček was a Czech painter who was born in 1915. Karel Souček's work has been offered at auction multiple times.
In this particular piece, the artist has depicted a nude lady reclining on a decorative chair in front of a set of two mirrors. Souček has expertly captured the reflections in the mirrors, creating a slightly abstracted composition. The use of post-impressionistic colour schemes draws the eye to the interesting colour contrast in the subjects body. The use of sweeping washes of colour alongside finer details in the body, draw the viewer in to study the female form.
Signed and dated '65 in the lower left hand corner. On wove laid to backing. With artists stamp on reverse.
Signed and dated.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some very minor general discolouration with some minor creasing in the corners. Overall in fine condition.
