This charming rural scene by Joseph William Milliken (1865-1945), shows several figures on a quiet Gloucestershire lane. Filling most of the composition is a fine English cottage with a women out front feeding the ducks from her doorstep. Further down the lane her husband can be seen with a wheelbarrow in hand, heading to the back garden. Just visible over the cottage garden wall is a beautiful display of pink hollyhocks. All well presented in a double bevelled mount and gilt frame. The artist has signed the work to the lower right, and fixed to the reverse is a label of biographical information. On paper.
Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and minor scuffs to the frame.
