A charming early 19th century pencil and watercolour study by the artist Joseph Watkins (1813-1859) . The scene depicts a young farmer's boy sat at the foot of a tree with his beloved collie dog under his arm. The artist has incorporated brown wash, gum arabic and body colour into the scene, bringing a sense of character to these two happy soles.
