A charming surrealist study of a warrior's bronze helmet against the reverse of a stretched canvas. The canvas is held by a single butterfly that holds the string on each wing. The artist uses an accomplished hand to capture the atmospheric seascape in the background and incorporate fine details into the composition. Signed and dated to the lower left. Titled to the reverse. On board.

In fine condition overall, some light scuffing to the corners of the board.

Artist Biography

John Voss was a British surrealist artist, who worked primarily in oils on canvas. Elected to the Leicester Society of Artists in 1971, Voss developed his own signature style of surrealism, with a flair for compositional form. He sadly passed away in 2021.
