John Shapland - Signed Original Late 19th Century Gouache. Signed lower right. Presented in a gilt mount and decorative gilt frame. Signed. Small pinhole to lower edge of mount as shown, otherwise picture is in fine condition.

John Shapland (1865-1929) was a British landscape painter who worked mostly in watercolours. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Paris Salon and in America and was the principle of the Exeter School of Art between 1899 and 1913. During his career he worked alongside the Devon artist W. H. Sweet.
