Artist Biography
John Shapland (1865-1929) was a seascape artist from the South West of England, Many of his coastal scenes depict his beloved West country landscape, including views of Exmouth and Salcombe. Painting mainly in watercolours, Shapland was a successful painter, exhibiting at the Royal Academy, the Paris Salon, and across America. He resided in Exeter.
