Description
A delicate study of a gentleman, thought to be the artist John Hollins, wearing a large red smoking jacket and black cap. He is seated in an ornately carved wooden chair. The small sketch is intensely personal, and the slight smile on the gentleman's face hints at a personality and knowingness beyond the confines of the page. To the reverse is another small, unfinished pencil sketch, also thought to be by Hollins. Signed by the artist and dated August 1830. On watercolour paper.Condition
Light foxing to the paper. Some marks and minor discolouration to the paper. The artwork is in very good condition for its age.
