A charming late 19th or early 20th century watercolour landscape by the Scottish artist John Hamilton Glass. With body colour. Wonderful presented in a washline titled mount inscribed 'An Old Stronghold, Morayshire'. Also with an original label to the reverse. Signed. On wove.Condition
Overall the condition is very good, with some minor discolouration. Small marks to the frame.

Artist Biography
Scottish artist John Hamilton Glass SSA ARSA (fl.1890-1925) was known mainly as a watercolourist of landscape, coastal and harbour scenes. His style reflects the progressive and innovative movement of art occurring in Scotland at the end of the 19th century. He painted mostly in Scotland and Holland, living in Musselburgh and often working along the east coast. He exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy, Royal Hibernian Academy and Glasgow Institute of Fine Art.
