John Flaxman R.A. - Original 1799 Pen and Ink Drawing. A good drawing of a sculpture called "Defence against Pain" . Signed on the back, and attributed on the front to John Flaxman RA. With a smaller drawing of the back of the sculpture. On wove watermarked BUTTANSHAW 1799. I have found no reference to a sculpture by Flaxman with this name, and perhaps it was a drawing for a sculpture that was never executed. In fine condition.
