Artist Biography
John Brown (1887–1966) was a British painter who was educated at Cambridge University, then studied at Westminster School of Art during the 1920s with Walter Bayes. He showed at the Royal Society of British Artists, the Royal Cambrian Academy, the Paris Salon and Lincolnshire Artists’ Society, often just signing his work with a monogram 'J.B.'. Lincoln’s Usher Gallery holds his works: A Break in the Clouds, November Sky and Humberstone Foreshore, all presented by Sir Hickman Bacon in the 1930s. Brown lived at Grimsby in Lincolnshire.
