A beautiful early 20th Century (c.1940) scene in Impressionist oil, showing a fine country house bathed in incredibly orange, late afternoon sunlight on an Autumn afternoon. The artist has monogrammed to the lower right and the painting has been presented in a gilt finished wood frame with off-white slip. On board.

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration.

Artist Biography

Painter who was educated at Cambridge University, then studied at Westminster School of Art, 1926–9, with Walter Bayes. Showed at RBA, RCamA, Paris Salon and Lincolnshire Artists’ Society, sometimes just signing work J B. Lincoln’s Usher Gallery holds his works: A Break in the Clouds, November Sky and Humberstone Foreshore, all presented by Sir Hickman Bacon in the 1930s. Lived at Grimsby, Lincolnshire
