A striking contemporary study depicting a nude figure curled up into a ball with a morose expression. The artist captures the figure in simple charcoal lines, blended out with blue watercolour. Signed to the lower right. Presented in a contemporary frame. On paper.

The painting is in fine condition. their are some scuffs to the glass of the frame.

Artist Biography

Jilly Sutton is known primarily for her sculpture work are large scale figurative work, often featuring faces and figures. She trained as a sculptor at Exeter College of Art and furthered her artistic education in Nigeria where she was particularly inspired by carvings and textiles.

Sutton’s sculptures have been exhibited internationally and are in public and private collections internationally. Her carved wooden portrait of the former Poet Laureate Andrew Motion is in the National Portrait Gallery’s permanent collection.
