A tranquil landscape painting in the style of Jean-Baptiste Corot. The scene depicts a serene waterway, with a solitary figure fishing from a small boat along the marshy shoreline. The composition employs a subdued palette of earth tones and muted blues, with the dark silhouette of trees anchoring the right side. Well presented in a rococo-style frame. Bears the signature 'Corot' to the lower right; however, we do not believe this to be an original work by Jean-Baptiste Corot (1796–1875). On canvas.
Condition
Signs of wear consistent with age. Light surface discolouration throughout, including yellowing to the varnish layer. Inspection under UV light reveals areas of minor overpainting. The frame has light surface wear. The artwork is in very good condition for its age.
