A serene watercolour of considerable size. showing fishermen and their grounded boat on the shores of a lake with cattle grazing and Mount Snowden in the distance. The gentle blue and ochre tones give a feeling of early morning light. Whilst the larger areas of sky and mountain are rendered in soft, loose washes, there is some lovely sharp detail seen on the rig and nets of the boat and trees in the foreground. This painting was originally laid to canvas but was removed and cleaned by Nicola Piroged as stated in a note that was discarded with it's damaged frame. The painting has now been laid to thick watercolour paper. Unsigned. On watercolour paper.
Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including heavy discolouration. The painting itself is in excellent condition with only a small nick to the right hand area of the painting.
