Description

A fine oil painting by the artist James McLernon, depicting a male figure wearing a suit, leaning against a golden mirror. The artist's figure composition and structure has allowed for a great dynamic, almost surreal, scene, highlighted by the thick brushwork and intense colour palette. Monogrammed to the lower right-hand corner. Label with additional details to the reverse. Well-presented in a simple wooden frame, as shown. Signed with monogram. On canvas on stretchers.

Condition

Overall in very good condition, with minor surface marks. Inspection under UV light shows now signs of restoration. Very small dents and marks to the frame.

Artist Biography

Born in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland in 1935, James McLernon studied at the Working Men's College in Camden Town. His works have been exhibited in various exhibitions in London. He died in Tunbridge Wells in 2012.
