Description

A wonderful late 19th century street scene from the Scottish artist James Little. Completed in tones of grey and brown with hints of colour. We can assume that this work is of Edinburgh, as the majority of Little's work was influenced by the city. Little was an active artist between 1875 and 1910, this work dated 1877 appears to be a relatively early work, as the artist favoured watercolours later in his career. Excellently presented in a gilt effect frame with leaf moulding detail. Signed and dated. On canvas on stretchers.

Condition

In very good condition. The canvas may have been relined at some point. Inspection under UV light reveals very minor areas of overpainting, a dab or two a the upper right corner.
