A charming watercolour painting with gouache details by the well-listed artist James Lawson Stewart. The scene depicts a view of river Ouse with a small fishing boat in the distance. Monogrammed to the lower left-hand corner. The title is inscribed on the reverse. Well-presented in a card mount and in a wooden frame with an inner gilt-effect detail. On watercolour paper.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. Very small scuffs to the frame.

James Lawson Stewart was a London-based artist, painting several city scenes, such as View of Old London Bridge, Sailing Barge and Other Shipping on the Thames. the also travelled throughout the UK painting several landscapes. the exhibited at the Royal Academy and at other galleries such as the Royal Society of British Artists and the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours. The following Institutions or private collections have examples of the artist's work: Museum of London; Bishopsgate Institute; Southwark Art Collection; Museum of Croydon; Government Art Collection; Private Collection.
