A striking landscape in the Scottish Highlands. Cattle graze in the shallow waters of a loch while figures launch a rowing boat behind them. Signed to the lower-left edge. On watercolour paper laid to board.

There is some foxing and discolouration, primarily to the sky.

James Heron was a Scottish artist who lived in Edinburgh, and painted many Fife scenes, harbours, farmyard scenes and landscapes around Scotland. Heron exhibited at the Glasgow Institute and the Royal Scottish Academy of Art and Architecture, known as the RSA.
