A wonderful mid-century drawing by the French artist Jacques Petit. The study depicts a bustling harbour scene with ships going out to see. The rooftops of the coastal houses crowd the foreground and dockyard buildings can be spotted in the distance. Well presented in a dark wood frame. Signed. On paper.Condition
There is some very minor discolouration but overall in good condition. Marks and minor scuffs to the frame.

Artist Biography
Jacques Petit (1925-2019) attended France's École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs before, with the encouragement of renowned art critic George Besson, exhibiting widely and with success around the water, including throughout Europe, Chicago and San Francisco, Canada and Japan. During his time in Paris, Petit met and befriended individuals including Paul Collomb and Albert Zavaro.
Petit's works can be found in the permanent collections of numerous public museums including Paris and the Art Institute of Chicago.
