A fine and handsome 18th Century engraving, depicting Sir Francis Walsingham within an oval engraved decorated border, with a scene with Elizabeth I below. The decorated border includes a floral running pattern and acanthus leaf fluting. Inscribed to the lower edge 'In the Collection of the Right Honorable Sir Robert Walpole.'. Handsomely presented in a Hogarth frame, with gilt mouldings and black lacquered shaped cove, as shown. Unsigned dated and inscribed. On laid.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There are multiple repaired tears to the paper, and some of these have been previously covered with body colour. There are losses to the frame and moulding, mainly small and scattered around the frame.
