A fine full length late Meiji period watercolour portrait of a young girl carrying a basket and a small rake, standing on red soil as the silhouettes of other workers can be seen toiling in the background. The girl has a look of quiet happiness on her face and holds herself very elegantly. The artist has rendered her in very fine detail.
The painting is signed to the lower right corner and presented in a gilt effect contemporary frame with a dark grey mount.

The painting has a mark in the upper right corner. The frame is in fine condition.
