Description

A beautiful Victorian oil landscape with heavy influence from the landscape painters of the late 18th Century. The scene shows an expansive English landscape with a manor house in the distance and a family strolling through the grounds to the right. The haziness of the distant house and muted colours of the middle ground hark back heavily to the Georgian landscape artists. The artist has signed to the lower left edge and the painting has been substantially presented in a late 19th Century ornate frame with extraordinarily detailed molding with floral and botanical motifs around the inner window and griffins, acanthus leaves and urns on the flat cove. The frame has been finished with a brass plaque with the artist's name. On wood panel.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. The frame has aging and some losses to the molding. A contemporary tarnished gilt effect has been applied.
