Description
An interesting and well-detailed 20th Century copy of 'The White Horse' in oil by the artist J. Coy, after the original painting by John Constable, currently held at the Frick Collection, New York. The work shows a horse being ferried across a river, and was presented at the 1819 Royal Academy exhibition, attracted public attention, generated critical approval, and helped bring about his election to become an Associate of the Royal Academy. Well-presented in a swept gilt wooden frame, as shown. Signed to the lower right corner. On canvas board.Condition
In very good condition overall. Inspection under UV light reveals no restoration. Some light surface dirt. The frame is in fine condition.
