Description
A wonderfully vibrant floral still life full of movement, showing yellow lilies in a vase. The artist ha used gestural brush work and sgraffito to work into the paint, creating depth and dynamism. The artist has signed and dated to the lower right and the painting has been presented in a silver gilt frame with a layered card mount. There is a label at the reverse with the artist's name and title of the painting. On wove board.Condition

Artist Biography
Painter, born in Glasgow. She studied drawing and painting at the School of Art there, 1976–80, her teachers including David Donaldson and Duncan Shanks. Won a scholarship to Patrick Allan-Fraser School of Art at Hospitalfield, Arbroath, and studied in Italy. A strong influence on her work was that of the Scottish Colourists, notably J D Fergusson, with their liking for sensuous handling of paint and emphasis on light and shade and rich colours. She travelled extensively in Europe and America and had studios in Glasgow and Athens. Showed widely in Europe and America and was regularly on exhibition at Main Fine Art, Glasgow. Warwick Arts Trust, Bank of Ireland, Allied Irish Bank, Robert Fleming Holdings and Scottish Arts Council are some owners of her work.
