Steeped in the centre of this dynamic landscape, artist Ian Grant has caught blanket green hills rippling down to an isolated valley farm. To finish off, a black pastel outline has been added to every contour in the scene, bringing shape & depth to the buildings and land. Unsigned. The watercolour has been well-presented in a crisp white mount and slim wood frame. With an inscribed gallery label verso. On watercolour paper.Condition
The overall condition of the artwork is very good with minimal discolouration to the watercolour paper.

Artist Biography
Ian Grant was a well-known painter in oil, pastel and watercolour of landscapes and figure subjects, associated strongly with the Northern School of Artists centred in Manchester. He was born in Scotland and studied at Glasgow School of Art 1922-26, in Paris 1927 and at the Royal College of Art 1927-30. Ian Grant exhibited at the Royal Academy RA 1937-56, Royal Scottish Academy, Royal Society of British Artists, New English Art Club 1941-42 and in the leading provincial galleries, including the Manchester Academy of Fine Art. He taught for some years at the Manchester School of Art. His work is represented in a number of public collections, including Manchester Art Gallery, Salford Museum & Art Gallery, Stockport Heritage Services, Atkinson Art Gallery Southport and Derby Museums & Art Gallery.
