Attributed to Herbert Arnold (1877-1953), this intriguing oil painting depicts an artist painting plein air during winter. Wrapped in thermals and a hat, the artist sets about capturing the snow-covered landscape with easel in situ and artist's materials in hand. The composition takes in a panoramic perspective with an icy track drawing your gaze to the far horizon, where a single tree can be seen at the point where sky meets land. The painting is unsigned but bears inscriptions on the verso attributing it to Herbert Arnold (1877-1953). On canvas.

Light soiling to the surface of the painting. The overall condition of the artwork is very good.
