A charmingly sized mid Century scene in impressionist oil showing a venue lit with lanterns, glowing in the gathering dusk, as party guests arrive and pull up in cars out front. The artist has signed to the lower edge, mostly obscured by the frame. Presented in a pine frame with blue stain. On board.Condition

Artist Biography
Painter, printmaker and teacher, born in Plymouth, Devon. His initial education was at the Devonport Dockyard School, after which he attended Plymouth School of Art. He went on to hold several teaching appointments, being an assistant at Belfast School of Art, then headmaster of Battersea Polytechnic. School of Art until 1936. Showed at RA, LG, Leicester and Redfern Galleries, RHA and elsewhere; had a one-man show at Plymouth Museum and Art Gallery in 1948. That gallery and British Museum hold his work. Lived in Torquay, Devon.
