Early 20th Century Oil - View of the Ronde Lutherse Kerk

Description

A lively street scene looking towards the Ronde Lutherse Kerk in Amsterdam. Horses pull a cart in the foreground whilst various figures populate the street. The artist employs a bold, painterly style with areas of subtle impasto that lend texture and vivacity to the surface. Indistinctly signed lower right. Well presented in a gilt frame. On canvas on stretchers.

Condition

Slight discolouration. Inspection under UV light reveals no apparent restoration. Faint impressions from the stretchers in the upper centre, resulting in a very small amount of paint loss. Minor wear to the frame. Overall, the artwork is in very good condition for its age.
