Henry Dawson Barkas (1858-1924) was born in St. Helier and studied at Bath School of Art, before winning a Scholarship to the RCA in 1877. Exhibiting in the RA, FAS and RI, he is best known for his watercolours, often depicting coastal views and seascapes in East Anglia. Reading museum has examples of his work.
