Heinrich Plühr (1859-1953) was a German painter and photographer known for his finely detailed portraits, genre scenes, and mythological subjects. Born in Beckum, he began his career as a lithographer and photo-retoucher before studying at the Weimar Painting School. Influenced by Symbolism and artists like Arnold Böcklin, his work often combined realism with dreamlike or allegorical themes. He exhibited internationally, earning a bronze medal at the 1900 Paris Exposition. Later based in Weimar, Plühr also produced numerous stereophotographs of nudes, reflecting his interest in photography as an artistic tool.
