An emotive oil painting by the artist Hazel Dunlop, depicting a portrait of fellow artist Barbara Doyle. Signed to the lower right-hand corner. There is a 'Society of Women Artists' label on the reverse inscribed with additional details. Well-presented in an ornate, painted wooden frame. On canvas on stretchers.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and minor surface marks, otherwise in good condition. Inspection under UV light reveals no restoration. Small scuffs and marks to the frame.

Artist Biography
Hazel Bruce Dunlop was born in Borneo and studied at the Slade School of Fine Art with Henry Tonks, Philip Wilson Steer and Randolph Schwabe. She was married to the artist Francis Edwin Hodge whom she lived with in London. Dunlop was a member of the United Society of artists, Society of Women Artists, Royal Institute of Oil Painters and the Royal Academy of Arts.
