This charming study depicts tall trees on the edge of a river. The artist captures the reflections of the trees in the calm water, using a rich palette to emphasise the natural surroundings. Unsigned. Presented in a part-gilt frame. On canvas on stretchers.

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration.

Artist Biography

Painter of coastal and harbour scenes born in Moreton in Marsh, Gloucestershire, the 1911 census recording him as a retired bank manager. He was a member of St. Ives Society of Artists, 1927-32 and also exhibited at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, Manchester Academy of Fine Arts and Royal Cambrian Academy. Minton died in a house called 'Lamorna' in Exmouth, Devon.
