This charming pastiche depicts three figures in bright seventeenth-century dress playing music together. A woman in pink plays the lute whilst the man behind her sings. Another gentleman plays the theorbo, a relative of the lute with a longer neck to allow for lower notes. Signed 'H. Bayle' to the lower right. Well presented in a wooden frame. On canvas on stretchers.
Condition
Signs of wear consistent with age. Craquelure throughout, resulting in some small losses to the paint. Areas of overpainting. Marks and scuffs to the frame, most notably to the lower right.
