Gordon Lindsay (1936-2005) was born in Barrow-in Furness, Cumbria. After studying drawing at Storey's Institute, Lancaster, he joined the Royal Air Force and travelled widely, mainly to the Middle-East and Mediterranean countries. On leaving the Royal Air Force, he took up painting and moved to Bolton-le-Sands on the shores of the beautiful Morecambe Bay. Much of his inspiration was drawn from the countryside in this area and many of his paintings depict local views. Lindsay died in 2005.
