A handsome early 19th-century pastel portrait of Joachim Simon, wearing a flamboyant floral waistcoat, double-buttoned overcoat and a black silk cravat. Well presented in a distressed gilt-effect frame with an original handwritten label verso. The portrait was acquired by Sulis Fine Art as a pair, the other being of the sitter's wife, Hanne Simon of Hesslien. On paper.
Condition
Minor water damage to the right and left-hand edges of the portrait. Dust and debris caught between the artwork and glazing. Small chips to the gilt-effect frame.
