Description

A charming watercolour depiction of a lone fisherman by a woodland creek. The landscape around him shows the delights of autumn, with jewel coloured trees and falling leaves. Signed and dated to the lower right. Presented in a pierced wooden frame with swept edges and ornate corner mouldings. The frame is unglazed. On paper.

Condition

There is a small hole to the lower right of the paper. The frame has undergone some restoration to the corners. The frame is unglazed.

Artist Biography

George Patrickson was a painter of landscapes born Horace George Patrickson the son of a warehouseman and merchant in Beckenham, Kent. Details of any art training he may have received are as yet unknown. He is known to have exhibited at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, Royal Academy, Royal Cambrian Academy, Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, Royal Institute of Oil Painters and Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool. He appears to have lived and worked in Kent all his life.
