A charming oil painting by the artist George Horne, depicting an old forge in the village of Branscombe, near Sidmouth, Devon. Signed to the lower right-hand corner. There is a piece of paper on the reverse, inscribed with the artist's biography, title and date. Well-presented in a fabric slip and in an ornate, gilt effect frame. On canvas on stretchers.Condition
In very good condition overall, with minor scuffs to the frame, some stable cracking and restoration to the upper frame mouldings. Inspection under UV light reveals no restoration.

Artist Biography
George Horne was born in Worcestershire but was educated in Vancouver, Canada at a young age. On returning to England, he studied at the Birmingham College of Art, where he won printmaking and design prizes. He has exhibited his work widely, including in England, America and Mexico.
