Description
A view of Little Orme's Head in Conwy, Wales, from a coastal heath with a figure in the foreground. Presented glazed in a cream mount with gold detailing and a distressed reeded gilt frame. Signed and dated to the lower-left corner. There is a later label inscribed with the location on the verso. There is a further label on the verso for the British and Continental Watercolours, Drawings, and Prints sale at Christie's in 1995. On wove.Condition
There is some slight foxing and discolouration. There are some mild scuffs and marks to the frame. Overall well-presented and in good condition.

Artist Biography
George Hayes RCA (c.1823-1895) was a painter, active in Manchester. He primarily painted history paintings, genre scenes, and landscapes. He was a member of the Royal Cambrian Academy. One of his paintings, 'Queen Victoria and Prince Albert Attending the Inauguration of Peel Park', is dated 1851. He also painted portraits of prominent figures after engravings. He exhibited landscapes in London, particularly at the Royal Academy, from 1855 to 1875.
