G.H. Brennan - Signed 1912 Gouache The 5th Lancers
Description
An extremely interesting and unique early 20th century military caricature of a soldier from the 5th Lancers. The 5th Royal Irish Lancers was a cavalry regiment of the British Army. It saw service for three centuries, including the First World War and the Second World War. It amalgamated with the 16th The Queen's Lancers to become the 16th/5th Lancers in 1922.

On wove laid to thin board.
Signed.Condition
With areas of discolouration and minor mount burn. The paint has suffered heavy craquelure. Possibly from a reaction with a varnish or mixing with gum Arabic.
