Description
A charming and bright folk art portrait depicting a beautiful young lady posed as a shepherdess. Similar in composition to the portrait of Julie d'Angennes by french painter Claude Deruet, the lady is dressed in an elegant white gown with embroidered cuffs and hem. Finishing her look is a plated straw hat and a shepherds crook. A single sheep is picture to the lower left corner, presenting the beauty with a basket of flowers. All set in a rural landscape with blue skies. Unsigned. On canvas on stretchers.Condition
The overall condition of the painting is very good. The canvas has been fully relined and re stretched. There is a small amount of wear around the edge of the canvas.
