A dramatic coastal scene in which waves crash on the rocks as seabirds fly overhead. The masts of a ship can be seen in the distance to the right side of the composition. The wreckage of a rowing boat that has been dashed on the rocks lies to the lower-left corner. Inscribed with the location to the verso. Signed to the lower-right edge. On watercolour paper.Condition
There is some discolouration and mount burn. Overall in good condition.

Artist Biography
Frederick Tully Lott (c.1828-1899) was a painter of landscapes and coastal scenes from the Channel Island of Jersey. He exhibited twenty-four times at the Society of British Artists and four times at the British Institute between 1852 and 1879. He painted in England, Jersey, and France. Paintings by Lott are in the collections of the Wolverhampton Art Gallery and the Guernsey Museum and Art Gallery.
