Franz Waldegg (1888-1966) - Framed Oil Faraglioni Rock Formations
Description
An atmospheric coastal landscape by Austrian artist Franz Waldegg (1888-1966) depicting the iconic Faraglioni rock formations off Capri's coast at sunset. The painting is beautifully presented in a distressed gilt frame adorned with acanthus leaf ornamentation at the corners. Signed below the rebate, lower right. On canvas laid to board.Condition
Signs of wear consistent with age. Inspection under UV light reveals minor overpainting in the top third. The canvas looks to have been previously on stretchers but is now laid down to board. The canvas is starting to lift away to the upper left and right hand corners. Light wear noted to the gilt effect frame. The overall condition of the artwork is very good.
