Description
Sheep and goats rest on a grassy riverbank in this finely painted bucolic scene. Inscriptions to the reverse of the board attribute the work to Belgian animal painter Frans van Severdonck (1809-1889). The work is well presented in a cream frame with a silver inner edge. Unsigned. On board.Condition
Signs of wear consistent with age, including discolouration and craquelure. Wear and some small losses around the margins. Inspection under UV light reveals no apparent restoration. Marks and scuffs to the frame. Overall, the condition is good and the piece presents well.
