Frank Graves (1913-2001) - 1987 Oil Cottage Interior
Description
A beautifully exact and well thought out interior scene of a sunny cottage. The artist has utilized multiple vignettes and mirrors to create an interior with depth and many points of focal intrigue. Whilst the interiors are muted in colour, the artist uses small splashes of colour in different rooms to create a more layered, rich aesthetic; yellow pansies bask in the sun on a leafy windowsill and in the next room a pink cushion can be seen. The naturalistic, simplistic style of this painting has great appeal and this understated scene make this a stand out piece.
The artist has initialed and dated to the lower right corner and there is a label at the reveres with the artist's name and title of the painting.
